About this photograph

Traditional houses with white façades and stone roofs follow the slopes above the Shirokolushka River in the heart of Shiroka Laka. Beside the water stands the Church of the Assumption of the Holy Virgin, surrounded by old bridges, stone walls and fresh mountain greenery. Soft light beneath the clouded sky brings out the textures of the historic village and the forested Rhodope hills around it.
