About this photograph

The Milky Way stretches across the night sky above Bolata Bay, following the curve of the horizon from one rocky headland to the other. Below it, the sheltered beach and small harbour remain almost completely still, surrounded by dark cliffs and coastal vegetation. The wide panorama brings together the scale of the star-filled sky and the quiet form of the bay along Bulgaria’s northern Black Sea coast.
