About this photograph

Pieces of glacial ice from Jökulsárlón drift out towards the ocean, where some are carried back onto the black shore of Diamond Beach. I photographed the moment when an incoming wave spread between the scattered pieces of ice and briefly covered the dark sand in white foam. The scene changes with every wave, leaving only a few seconds to find the right composition.
