About this photograph

I photographed Goðafoss on a cold, overcast day in North Iceland. Instead of falling in a single stream, the Skjálfandafljót River spreads across a broad rocky ledge and pours into the gorge through a series of powerful cascades. The muted sky and fine spray hanging above the water gave the landscape an appropriately austere atmosphere for a place known as the Waterfall of the Gods.
