About this photograph

I photographed Skútafoss from the rocks above the pool, where both streams of the waterfall and the valley behind them fit into a single frame. The river descends from the cloud-covered mountains before dividing at the dark rock ledge and falling into the clear blue water below. Skútafoss is a relatively small and easily overlooked waterfall, but the open mountain valley gives the view a much greater sense of scale.
